NBA PLAYOFFS RETURN TO PHILADELPHIA posted April 21, 2005 For the sixth time in seven years, the NBA Playoffs will be in full swing in the City of Brotherly Love as the Philadelphia 76ers begin their march through the postseason. Fans throughout the region will feel the passion and excitement of The Playoffs with various marketing elements in Philadelphia, including television, radio, print, outdoor and direct mail advertising. The Playoffs marketing campaign began on April 15 with unique television spots featuring Sixers players Allen Iverson, Chris Webber, Samuel Dalembert and Kyle Korver. The non-scripted spots highlight the players' true emotions and excitement about the NBA Playoffs. From Korver's first playoff experience where he'll "Bring it," to Iverson's sixth appearance in the postseason saying, "That's When the Stars Come Out." Billboards throughout the region highlight the players' excitement and sense of urgency in the Playoffs. Webber's "Any Game Could Be Your Last," and Dalembert's, "It's a Whole Different Ball Game," set the mood in The Playoffs campaign as the grainy black and white look communicate the drastic change from the regular season. Billboards are located on Interstate 95 at Robbins Street (northbound), Richmond Street (southbound), and prior to the Walt Whitman Bridge (southbound). "We wanted this year's Playoff marketing campaign to reflect the players true feelings. There is no better way to do that than to use their own words to promote the excitement of this year's playoffs. We think the look that we have created highlights the team and the players' attitude and excitement," said Lara Price, senior vice president of business operations. All fans in attendance for Game 3 on Friday, April 29 at 8 p.m. will receive rally towels. Cheer cards will be given to all fans for Game 4 on Sunday, May 1 at 1 p.m. Both giveaways are courtesy of Subway and Firestone. Fans interested in purchasing tickets can do so in person at the Wachovia Center Box Office or any Ticketmaster location. Tickets can also be charged by phone at 1-800-4NBA-TIX or by going to Sixers.com. Tickets are based on availability. |
