I wonder if the electical plug I pulled out under the stands at the Palace of Auburn Hills to plug in my laptop had anything to with the lights going out in Game 1, huh ... anyhow, I once again managed to sneak down to New Orleans for the First Round and then onto Detroit on the team plane, so everyone could get an inside look at the 76ers in the Big Easy and the Motor City. Of course I brought my camera along, too... BAM! … the pork chops were the house specialty at Emeril's Restaurant in the Warehouse District, where Billy King took the whole coaching staff for dinner on Sunday night before the team's Game Four win. Always the connoisseur, BK selected a few bottles of Penfolds Shiraz to go with the chops. A win is a win, so the superstitious crew returned before Game 6. Talk about kicking it up a notch, this time, Emeril himself was in the house and, as he said, "took everyone for a ride." The food was delicious, even the dessert which was a cherry cheesecake. Unfortunately, Spy Guy passed on that - 1700 calories a slice is way over my limit … The Answer was seen leaving Sports Plus, on Canal Street, with three bags full of sweat suits and t-shirts from Sean John and Pelle Pelle ... AI's not the only one with style - Assistant Coach Mike Woodson was spotted at Saks Fifth Avenue trying out a variety of cologne and purchasing a Burberry bucket hat ... E Snow had his lovely wife DeShawn on the trip ... the two college sweethearts were spotted strolling through the New Orleans streets, taking in all the scenery ... AI couldn't figure out what number he wanted to wear on his new USA uniform, his choices were 4, 9, 14 or 15. After much debate at shootaround before Game 4, that included DC (who wore No. 6 in the '94 World Championship Games), he decided on 4 ... Which Sixer do you think loves sushi? It's Brian Skinner, who was overheard ordering California and spicy tuna rolls for take-out from Mikado on Lancaster Avenue in Bryn Mawr. This was, of course, after the team returned home and wrapped up the Hornets series ... Always a good big brother, KVH treated rookies Sam Clancy and John Salmons along with Samuel Dalembert to a movie at the Birmingham Theatre, just blocks away from the team’s hotel ... Rook (John Salmons) has been bugging equipment manager Scott Rego for a pair of size 46 shorts all season. His reason for such big drawers? AI wears 44's, and he's shorter! So, finally, Scottie came through and left the 46's on John's chair in the locker room before Game 4 against the Hornets... Once a teammate, always a teammate. Former Sixer and Temple Owl Pepe Sanchez was spotted picking up Big Mac for dinner in his new Lexus IS 300. The Lexus is quite a step up from Pepe’s Philly ride, which was a Kia Sportage (guess he's no longer in his rookie deal) ... | |||
