Practice Quotes - May 6
“I am more concerned about our team. There are some really good match-ups in this series. They have a very good backcourt with Chauncey (Billups) and RIP (Richard Hamilton), Chucky (Atkins) and Jon (Barry). They are really deep. Rick (Carlisle) isn’t afraid to utilize his bench, which has been terrific. I watched the Orlando series, and Corliss Williamson, who has given us problems, didn’t even play in two games. (Tayshaun) Prince came in and gave them a lift at time. Ben defensively changes the game. They have a great coach, they have home court…they have a lot going for them. They didn’t have the best record in the East for nothing. They are a very good team.” On the regular season games “You have to be aware of what they have been doing in past performances. But it is a new season. Some guys respond to playoff situations better than others. I think this game gets down to whoever executes the best and takes care of the all in clutch situations.”
”I don’t get too overly excited about it. I just want to come out, have a great game and put our team in the position to win one or two ball games. We want to put ourselves in a good position so we can go back to Philly and take care of business. As far as being home, I am here to play basketball and that is what I am going to come out and do!”
“The whole face of the team has changed since I left. The time I spent out here was great, the fans were great. We had a pretty good team, too. Now, they are pretty good as well, and we just want to come out here and play basketball and not worry about anything else going on.” On Ben Wallace “(Detroit has) many players on the floor that can get it done. He is one of those guys that can change the course of a game. He can block shots. He has the ability to get the ball off the glass and get it into the guards’ hands to start their transition game. You can’t teach that, it is all hustle and work ethic. He seems to do it without thinking about it.” On if the rest helped the Sixers “I’m not really sure about the rest thing. It can work both ways. Sometimes when you get a couple days off, teams relax and forget about what task is at hand. But I don’t think we will take that road. We will come in tonight, ready to play and fight until that final buzzer sounds.” |
