    May 12, 2003 DC Rejuvenated
A malcontent. A cancer. Not worth half his contract. These were insults thrown in the direction of Derrick Coleman through out a good portion of his 12 seasons in the NBA.

May 5, 2003 48 Years in the Making
It’s pretty amazing that this week marks the first playoff meeting between the Pistons and the Sixers in almost half a century. When looking at the Eastern Conference in the 1980’s, three teams basically dominated the rest – the Celtics, Detroit and Philadelphia. In fact, from 1980-1990, only those three squads emerged as NBA Finalists from the East.

    April 28, 2003 Now It's a Series
Okay, now it’s a series. The comfortable 2-0 series lead is gone, and so is the momentum. Here now is what should be the arrival of even more intense competition and a sense of urgency for the 76ers who failed to take more life out of an already lifeless New Orleans team Saturday night.

April 21, 2003 It's Not Supposed to be This Way
To everyone who just witnessed the 76ers’ Game One win over the New Orleans Hornets Sunday Night, let me just remind you: It’s not supposed to be this way.

May 19, 2003 What will next season hold?
After seven years in the league, Iverson realizes how tough the task or rising to the top can be. Following the loss in Game 6, Iverson said that he plans on getting stronger this summer. Can you imagine a bigger, stronger, faster Allen Iverson? Wow... The status of Coach Brown and Derrick Coleman with the franchise is also discussed in this final edition of generation neXt of the 2002-03 season.

April 14, 2003 Done Deal? Iverson an Olympian?
This past Thursday, word accidentally came out that 76ers guard Allen Iverson would be extended an invitation to play for the USA Basketball Men's Senior National Team this summer that will ultimately attempt to qualify for the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. And although no official announcement has been made it seems to be a done deal.

April 7, 2003 Sixers’ Ride Wave to NBA Playoffs
Okay Sixers fans, here we go again! Dust off those faded rally towels and reattach your Sixers flag to the car window, because your Philadelphia 76ers are in the NBA playoffs for the fifth consecutive season. We’re talking bumper stickers, new and old team t-shirts, throwback and retro jerseys, whatever has “Sixers” on it, bring it out!

March 31, 2003 AI for MVP
The Most Valuable Player Award is not given to the player with the gaudiest numbers – though not many players can match the digits Allen Iverson puts in, night-in and night-out. Rather, the Maurice Podoloff Trophy (NBA MVP) is given to the performer who means the most to his team. Not many players in the league mean more to their teams’ success. As Iverson goes, so go the Sixers.

March 24, 2003 The Role Players
Every team has them. They are the guys that do the dirty work. The guys assigned to the unrecognized and thankless jobs. The guys who make the most of their limited minutes each night. The guys who make the overlooked big play right before the team’s superstar makes the real big play that everyone remembers and makes all the nightly highlight reels. These are the lackluster, but vital duties of the role player.

March 17, 2003 NCAA Tourney Not For All
In 2002, 69 basketball players from around the world applied for early entrance into the NBA, either right out of high school, or before finishing college. Surprised? Don't be.

March 10, 2003 Not Very Relaxing
To most people the thought of a 10-day trip to the west coast at the end of a long and cold winter season sounds extremely relaxing - but not if you’re a Sixer.

    March 3, 2003: Off-Court Press
The Sixers see the benefits of taking an active role in the community. Whether it's front office staff at Read to Achieve events or a few of the players joininig residents of the Simpson House in a game of Bingo. 76ers Community Relations Intern Shayla Watson shares her off-court experience.

February 24, 2003: No Trade, No Problem
Amidst the plethora of trade rumors and guarantees that swirled throughout Philadelphia for the past two weeks, the NBA’s February 20 trade deadline came and went with the Sixers not making any moves.

    February 11, 2003: FAN-tastic Season
Listen up Sixers fans, the fat lady hasn’t sung yet, and believe it or not, Elvis is still in the building. As a diehard fan, I still believe there is some hope left for this year’s team. The only thing the Sixers need now is the unending support from the greatest fans in the world.

February 3, 2003: The State of the Sixers
"We’ve had the State of the Union. The timing is perfect for a State of the Sixers address...This is a team that started the season on fire, winning 15 of their first 19 games. Since then, they have gone a miserable 9-18. Are the Sixers as good as their early-season record indicated? Maybe, maybe not. Are they better than many, including themselves, now give them credit for? Absolutely. "

January 27, 2003: From Fan to Employee
"Going from fan to employee has taught me that the start of a game is really the middle of a long workday. Going from fan to employee has taught me that the Sixers are more than just Larry Brown and his currently small contingent of healthy players. The team is much larger than that. "

January 13, 2003: Rock the Vote
"In the NFL fans, players, coaches, and writers all have input on who makes the Pro Bowl roster. When players are up for the Hall-of-Fame, one of the categories taken into affect is their number of Pro Bowl appearances. It would be ridiculous now for an NBA player to be judged upon this, seeing how the voting is clearly unfair right now."

    January 6, 2003: Duck's the Craze
With the Sixers Charles Barkley Celebriduck giveaway coming up this Sunday, this week's gen neXt columnist writes, "People will go through great lengths to get their dirty mitts on giveaways, and most of the time, it’s not so they can add it to their sports collectibles mantle."

    December 30, 2002: New Year's Resolutions
This week's gen neXt columnist writes, "Looking ahead seems like a good idea, and for thousands of people that means making resolutions for the New Year to better themselves or the people around them. Even Philadelphia sports fans, as hard-headed as they come, can find a few things they would like to change about themselves."

December 16, 2002: Christmas Wish Lists
NBA players, millionaires or not, still make their own holiday wish lists, just like you and me. This installment of generation neXt takes a peek at a few Christmas lists around the NBA.

December 9, 2002: Basketball for All Ages
The NBA is a sport that has gone global and is an attraction for all races, creeds, genders and colors. This week's gen neXt columnist writes about how the basketball bug has bitten his grandmother. "Grammy" is a caring and loving woman, just don't bother her when her 76ers are playing.

December 2, 2002: Surprise of the Season
This year’s Sixers are beginning to distinctly resemble the Eastern Conference Champions of two seasons ago. Coupled with its combination of defensive tenacity and team-oriented role players is the fact that this year’s squad has exactly the same record (14-4) as the Sixer team that reached the NBA Finals in 2001.

November 11, 2002: Stop the Hate
This week generation NEXT has a new voice and this one is tired of people "hating" on Allen Iverson because of who he is. He writes that, "It is a plain fact that everything a professional athlete does is put under a microscope for everyone to see, but to question the man’s every move is simply ridiculous, which is what the press oftentimes does to Iverson."

November 4, 2002: The Eastern Conference
You've seen and heard what all of the so-called experts have had to say about the Eastern Conference. The conference is so wide open that it's nearly impossible to predict what is going to happen. Who really thought that the Celtics and Nets would have emerged as powerhouses last season? This week's generation NEXT takes a look at the Eastern Conference and how the Sixers stack up against the rest of the pack.

October 28, 2002: gen NEXT Arrives
This team definitely will turn some heads this year and surprise some of the “experts” that picked them to not even make the playoffs. This 76ers team style of play is not going to remind anyone of the 2000-’01 team that went to the NBA Finals, but it might be just as successful.
