Looking to upset a Grizzlies team locked in a three-team battle for the eighth and final playoff seed in the West, the Sixers kept pace early on. In the end, Memphis’ experienced frontcourt thwarted Philadelphia’s efforts, as the Grizzlies came away with a 117-95 victory Friday night at FedExForum. 

For Memphis, center Marc Gasol came up big, scoring 21 points on 9-of-12 shooting to go along with 10 rebounds. Frontcourt-mate Zach Randolph also notched a double-double, finisheing with 10 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists, and Mike Miller came off the bench to contribute 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting (3-of-4 from beyond the arc). 

The Sixers were led by Thaddeus Young, who had 18 points on 8-of-17 shooting in 27 minutes of action. Tony Wroten came off the bench to add 18 points in just 21 minutes, and Michael Carter-Williams contributed eight points, six rebounds, and five rebounds in 27 minutes.

The Sixers return to action Saturday night when they close out a three-game road trip against the Charlotte Bobcats at 7pm.
