Anderson Varejao vs. Kwame Brown

In 25 games last season, Anderson Varajao averaged a double-double, with 10.8 points and 11.5 rebounds per game. The 30-year-old center from Brazil has posted averages of 15.9 points and 13.7 rebounds through seven games this season, while shooting 60.8% percent the floor, a career high. He’s had four doubles-doubles, including a career-high 35-point, 18-rebound performance in Brooklyn Tuesday.

In Friday's win over the Utah Jazz, Sixers head coach Doug Collins named Kwame Brown his Ace of Spades MVP of the game. The 12-year veteran has been heralded by the Sixers coaching staff for his toughness, defense, and ability to rebound the ball. Having started each of the last two games, Brown is expected to start again in this game,

Varejao leads the league in defensive rebound (33.1%) and total rebound (23.4%) percentage. The two metrics measure the estimated percentage of rebounds a player accounts for while on the floor. For Brown, the key will be keeping Varejao off the offensive glass, where he creates second-chance opportunities for himself and his teammates.
