With the win tonight, the Sixers snap a five-game losing streak in season openers dating back to 2007-08.  The last time Philly won a season opener was vs. Atlanta on 11/1/06.  The Sixers have also won four of the past five meetings vs. Denver.

The Sixers held Denver to 75 points. It is the fewest points Philly has given up in a season opener since holding Atlanta to 75 points on 11/1/06.  The Sixers held opponents below 80 points 11 times in 2011-12 after doing so 10 times the previous three seasons combined.  Denver averaged a league-high 104.1 points per game last season.  The last time the Nuggets scored below 80 points was when they had 76 at Portland on 4/15/09.

Philly won despite being outshot 37.5% to 35.3% from the floor.  The Sixers were 5-21 when being outshot in 2011-12 and 2-12 when shooting below 40.0%.  Philly also scored just 84 points in its win tonight.  The Sixers were 2-18 when scoring below 90 points in 2011-12.

The Sixers shot 7-of-25 from 3-point range tonight.  The last time Philly had at least 25 3FGA was on 4/12/10 vs. Miami.  The Sixers hit 7+ 3-pointers 16 times in 2011-12.

Jrue Holiday had 14 points and a game-high 11 assists.  He recorded just one double-double all of last season after having 15 in 2010-11.  Holiday averaged 4.5 apg in 2011-12, down from 6.5 apg in 2010-11.  He also had 5 free throw attempts tonight.  Holiday averaged just 1.8 FTA in 2011-12 and had 5+ FTA just seven times.

Spencer Hawes had a game-high tying 16 points with game-highs of 12 rebounds and 5 assists off the bench.  He recorded eight double-doubles in 37 games played last season after having seven in 81 games played in 2010-11.  Tonight marks the sixth time in his career he has recorded at least 5 blocks.

The Sixers had 13 steals and 11 blocks tonight.  The last time Philly had 10+ steals and 10+ blocks in the same game was vs. Sacramento on 1/15/10.  

Denver had 19 assists with 22 turnovers tonight.  The Sixers forced 20+ turnovers three times last season and opponents had more assists than turnovers nine times but Philly as just 5-4 in those games.
