Checking In With The Sixers: Kyle Korver
Each Friday throughout the 2007 off-season, sixers.com will check in with Sixers players, coaches and front office personnel to see what they have been doing. This week, sixers.com hears from forward Kyle Korver.
After taking some time off to relax and catch up on some things after the season ended, I started my workout routine again. Since my wrist is still healing, I have not been able to do any shooting drills yet. I have been swimming on Tuesdays and Thursdays, taking yoga classes on Mondays and Thursdays and lifting three times a week.
It’s been pretty frustrating because my lifting has been limited because I am still recovering from my wrist injury. I can’t believe it’s taking this long to heal. Hopefully I will be cleared to start shooting drills by early June. And since it's the off-season, I will be able to start golfing again too. My golf game is definitely suffering.
It’s probably a good thing that my workouts have been limited. I moved into my house almost two years ago and I still haven’t cleaned out all the boxes yet. But I’m working with a great decorator who is helping me finally finish up.
Earlier in May (Cinco de Mayo), I went to The Killer's concert at the Borgata. It's funny because one of the guys in the band (Dave Kuening) also grew up in Pella (Iowa) and actually lived across the street from me back home. He was a little older so we didn't know each other that well growing up, but it was great to connect with him. He left us 10 tickets to the show and we had a great time. Todd MacCulloch (76ers Radio Analyst) and Matt Cord (76ers PA Announcer) also came along. I didn’t know a whole lot of their music before, but I am definitely a big fan now.
Last week I went back home for my brother's (Klayton) graduation and for Mother’s Day. I actually ran into Dave when I was back in Pella… small world. After that, my brother (Klayton) and I went to Jamaica. I have never been there before. It wasn’t very sunny while we were there, but we still enjoyed it, although, there are way too many speedos. I never quite understood the 60+ year old man’s obsession with speedos… but hey, whatever works for you.
I have a few other vacations coming up. I’ll be going to Brazil at the end of July for Basketball Without Borders with the NBA. I've never been to South America before so it’s definitely something I am looking forward to. From there, I am going to Omaha where some of my friends and I are planning a basketball camp and a golf tournament to help raise money for underprivileged youth in Omaha. And I have also been planning a bowling event in Philly in September.
Other than that, I am just looking forward to June when I can really start working out and improving my game. I’m really excited about next year and what the possibilities are for our team. Hope everyone enjoys their summer.
