Catchin' Up with Herbert Hill

We sat down with Herbert Hill during one of his off days over the summer and listened in on his workout regiments and any plans he has during his very first offseason.

Herbert Hill sat out his rookie season due to a torn meniscus in his left knee; however, with much rehab Hill is getting back to full health.

“I’m pretty much healthy now,” said Hill. “I’m just getting back on the court and just trying to get back in shape and continue to work on my upper body strength.

“I went home for three days and I’ve been up [in Philadelphia] the whole summer just working out, trying to get stronger and get ready for next year.”

Hill has been busy with a conditioning regimen during the offseason. Almost on a daily basis, the Sixers forward makes sure that he does sprints either on a treadmill or on a bike.

Despite sitting out this past season, Hill used it as a learning experience while also taking advantage of his situation.

“Personally, I just watched every game this year and I just saw our guys and I just used this year as motivation,” said Hill. “Everyday I’m in the weight room or the gym just thinking about having to sit, how I had to sit out, and I don’t ever want to have that feeling again. So I’m just going to use that [as motivation] everyday, work out and prove everyone wrong.”

Like fellow rookie Jason Smith, Hill too will compete in summer league. He is already prepared for his venture.

“I’m just going to try to compete and just play hard every possession and just work my way into shape [while I’m there],” said Hill.

Hill is already looking forward to next season. Not only will he be healthy enough to play, but his team will be ready to make the playoffs again.

“Hopefully everyone can use what they learned in the season and in the playoffs and work on it this summer,” said Hill. “Work on their weaknesses and their strengths too and just hopefully everyone will be better next year and we can just improve as a team next year and go further in the playoffs.”
