Coming off of an MVP season and reaching the NBA Finals, the start of Iverson's 2001-02 season was frustrating as he missed the first few games of the season due to injury, and watched his team fall to an 0-5 record. Fortunately for the Sixers, Iverson wasn't out for too long and they sprung back upon his return to win seven straight. On Nov. 19 Iverson was named the Eastern Conference Player of the week, and the Sixers had a record for the month of 7-6.

Iverson proved that nine years in the NBA aren't enough to slow him down as he started season No. 10 by going on a month-long offensive exhibition. Iverson started the season by scoring at least 25 points in 11 straight games. Only five other players in NBA history have scored 25 points in their first 10 games of the season. Iverson scored 40 points or more four times, including in back to back games against Milwaukee (11/23) and New York (11/26). He was efficient in his scoring, connecting on 45.2% of his shots, which is 3.3% higher than his career percentage. Iverson finished the month leading the league in scoring and was fifth in assists, and the Sixers finished the month with a record of 8-8.
