10 Marches of A.I.
Throughout the 2005-06 season, the Sixers will join NBA.com and Reebok in paying tribute to “the toughest little man the league has ever seen.” At the conclusion of every month, Sixers.com will post a comparison of all 10 of those months that Iverson has played throughout his career. After taking a look at Iverson’s performance in each month, you, the fan, will get to vote and decide in which year Iverson performed best in the month of November, December, January, etc. Then, at the conclusion of the season, as well as the conclusion of one decade of A.I., you will be able to vote which overall season was Iverson’s most successful.
As Iverson has now concluded his 10th March in the NBA, you can get started and begin the voting. Take a look at Iverson's stats, accomplishments, awards, and the Sixers team performance for each March over the past 10 years, and then vote as to which March you feel was A.I.'s best.

With Allen Iverson missing one game in March of his rookie year, the Sixers went 5-9. Iverson continued his dominant rookie campaign with three double-doubles for the month, and in a game against Chicago on Mar. 12 scored 37 points (15-23) in 36 minutes.

Iverson had seven consecutive games with 20 or more points between March 11-22 of 1998. He had a game-high 29 points, a team-high nine rebounds and a game and career-high six steals at New York on Mar. 17, and had 34 points (15-26 FG) and 10 assists against Atlanta on March 13. He also shot 50.4 percent from the floor for the month. For March, the Sixers went 7-9.

In only the second month of the lockout-shortened 1999 season, Iverson was spectacular. He had a game-high 34 points at Vancouver on Mar. 24 (18 in the third quarter), and connected on a four-point play (the 2nd of his career and 11th in franchise history) with 2:50 left in overtime that broke an 86-86 tie and gave Philly the lead for good. He had 41 points and 10 assists against the Lakers on March 19. Iverson also had 39 points and a team-high seven rebounds against Indiana on Mar. 17. For the month the Sixers went 7-9, with Iverson missing one game due to injury.

Iverson had two games of 40 or more points in March of 2000, including 44 against Toronto on Mar. 22 and 43 against Minnesota on Mar. 28. He also had 18 points, 10 assists and nine steals in a game against Orlando on Mar. 19. Iverson missed one game due to suspension in the month, and the Sixers went 11-5.

While injuries tried to slow Iverson down during his MVP campaign, Iverson stayed as strong as ever by starting the month averaging 42 points per game over his first three games before getting injuring his left hip in a game against Boston on Mar. 11 that caused him to miss five of the team’s next six games. The Sixers were still able to muster a winning record for the month though, going 7-6.

In the first game of March in 2002, Iverson came off the bench as a punishment for violating team rules, but ended up scoring 43 points to lead the Sixers to victory of the Eastern Conference leading New Jersey Nets. In the games that he played, Iverson was terrific, averaging over 35 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. He suffered a fractured left hand on Mar. 22 against Boston that forced him to miss the remainder of the regular season and the Sixers went 10-7 on the month.

Over an eight game stretch in March of 2003, Iverson averaged 32.1 points per game and shot 48.2 percent from the field, while scoring 30 or more in seven of those eight games. Had 25 points and a season-high 12 assists against Atlanta on Mar. 21 for his first double-double of the season, and narrowly missed a triple-double with 38 points, nine assists and eight steals on Mar. 29 against Atlanta. The Sixers played well and went 11-5 for the month.

In his most injury riddled season of his career, Iverson played only six games, missing nine due to injury. He missed the remainder of the season after scoring 23 points against Miami on Mar. 20. For the month the Sixers went 8-7.

Iverson became the 73rd player in NBA history to surpass the 16,000-point mark against Cleveland on Mar. 4, 2005. He scored 26 points and made a game-winning FG with 2.4 seconds remaining against Toronto on Mar. 25. Iverson had 48 points and eight assists against Milwaukee on Mar. 1, and had 15 assists against the Lakers on Mar. 27. The Sixers went 5-6 for the month.

Although he missed four games due to injury in March of 2006, Iverson was still able to have a successful month statistically. He scored 40 or more three times, including a pair of 47-point games, he had four double-doubles, and had 47 points and 12 assists against Washington on Mar. 3. The Sixers went 5-10 during March of 2006.
