The second highest scoring player in the NBA helped play a part in a dramatic come back during this year's All-Star Game. Allen Iverson scored 12 points as the East erased a 21 point first-half deficit to win the 55th NBA All-Star Game 122-120. Iverson made some key baskets to help his team, and showed a fun-loving attitude while taking part in the event. Iverson started for the Eastern Conference team for the seventh straight season and received 2,062,206 votes from the fans. Not only did Iverson receive enough votes from the fans to be selected to the game, but he led all guards from the Eastern Conference in voting, and also received the 10th most votes of any one player in a single year all-time. Coming into the game, Iverson (18.2 ppg) ranked second for the highest scoring average in All-Star Games among active players. "It’s an honor," said Iverson about being picked. "It’s tough enough just to make an all-star team, but when you’re able to be a starter it just says a lot about being pretty much one of the faces of the NBA because the fans picked you.” Highlights of the 2006 All-Star Game Watch Highlights of All-Star Allen Iverson in Action Pharrell Captures Allen Iverson's Game Through Music
For many NBA players, All-Star Weekend is a chance to take a few days off and relax. That isn't the case for Sixers guard/forward Andre Iguodala. The busiest member of the 76ers during the 2006 All-Star Weekend will participate in two events this year. Iguodala shined the brightest among many young stars on Feb. 17 when he scored 30 points on 13-17 shooting in the T-Mobile Rookie Challenge and took home the MVP Award. Iguodala put on an offensive exhibition with nine high-flying dunks and four three pointers to go along with six rebounds and four steals. NBA.com kept a log of the many postgame obligations that awaited Iguodala upon being named MVP. Watch highlights from the game here. Then, as a part of All-Star Saturday Night, Iguodala was a part of history when he competed in the first ever dunk-off in slam dunk contest history. Iguodala finished second in the overall scoring, but received two perfect 50's from the judges, and completed one of the most amazing dunks ever when he took a pass from Allen Iverson off the back of the backboard and improbably dunked it from in front of the hoop. Overall, the weekend was the next step on Iguodala's road to stardom.
