Sixers host holiday movie premiere for underprivileged kids - 12/15/2009
The Philadelphia 76ers rolled out the red carpet tonight as they hosted a group of underprivileged children for a local movie premiere to celebrate the holidays. Sixers players Allen Iverson, Samuel Dalembert and Marreese Speights were on hand for this exclusive preview, which took place at the Ritz East Theatre.
Children from the Methodist Children’s Home in Philadelphia were among some of the first children in the country to see, ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS: THE SQUEAKQUEL, opening in theaters nationwide on Wednesday, December 23rd.
From the moment they arrived, the children received the star treatment along the red carpet as they took part in “mock” interviews with Sixers sideline reporter Jaime Maggio and made a stop at a photo station complete with a Sixers backdrop. Once inside the theater, the children received holiday treats before Sixers Television Play-by-Play Announcer Marc Zumoff introduced the movie to the 100 kids in attendance.
Following this special preview, Allen Iverson, Samuel Dalembert and special guest Santa Claus gave every child a holiday present.
