76ers Acquire Rodney Carney from Chicago in a Draft-Night Trade
Sixers acquire draft rights to Bobby Jones from Minnesota and Edin Bavcic from Toronto
The Philadelphia 76ers acquired the draft rights to Rodney Carney, the 16th overall selection in the first round of the 2006 NBA Draft, a 2007 second round draft pick and cash considerations from the Chicago Bulls in exchange for Thabo Sefolosha, the 13th overall selection in the first round. Carney averaged 17.2 points per game as a senior at Memphis University and holds the Tigers record for career three-pointers made (287, 3rd in Conference USA history) and finished third in career scoring (1,901 points) in 133 games. In the second round, the Sixers acquired the draft rights to Bobby Jones, the 37th overall selection, from Minnesota in exchange for the 76ers second round draft pick in the 2007 NBA Draft and cash considerations. A 6-foot-7 forward from University of Washington, played four seasons with the Huskies and averaged 9.8 points in 125 career games. Jones earned Honorable Mention All-Pac-10 honors as a senior and finished his collegiate career as the 20th all-time leading scorer in Washington history with 1,226 career points. Philadelphia also acquired the draft rights to Edin Bavcic, the 56th overall pick in the second round, from the Toronto Raptors for cash considerations. The 6-foot-10, 230-pound, small forward/power forward from Bosnia-Herzegovina is 22 years old. |
