Draft Prospect: J.J. Hickson

Career

J.J. Hickson was not only one of the best players on N.C. State last season, he was also considered one of the best players in the entire ACC. Hickson put together an impressive resume in his lone season as a member of the Wolfpack. The 6-9 forward led N.C. State in scoring (14.8) and in rebounds (8.5), while also collecting 1.5 blocks per game. Hickson led all ACC freshman in scoring, rebounding and double-doubles.

Hickson scored a career-high 33 points, on 10-of-11 shooting, while also pulling down 13 rebounds and tallying three blocks in a 74-62 home victory against Western Carolina on December 29. Against Clemson, Hickson put forth one of the most remarkable rebounding games in recent history as he went on to grab a career-high 23 boards. Hickson totaled four straight double-doubles, from January 23-Febraury 3, and then rounded out the final game of his career with a 27-point, 14-rebound outing against Miami.

In 31 games, Hickson totaled 25 games in double figures, five games with 20 or more points, two games with 30 or more points and 10 double-doubles.

Strengths

At 6-9, Hickson is known for his lower body strength. He can dominate in the paint due to his length and he can also extend out to the high-post and knock down the mid-range jumper. (NBA.com)

Hickson can truly get off the floor as a result of his impressive leaping ability. He is very effective inside the paint and he can even put the ball on the floor. Aside from his offensive game, Hickson is also an above-average rebounder and shot-blocker. (ESPN.com)
