Career

D.J. Augustin is widely considered as one of the most electrifying point guards in college basketball and during his two years at Texas, he proved he was ready and able to deliver on a number of levels for the Longhorns.

Augustin became a dominant player in the Big-12 conference this past season, finishing first in assists (5.7 apg) and second in scoring (19.2 ppg). He upped his scoring average by almost five points per game from his freshman to sophomore seasons, showing he could carry the scoring burden after the loss of reigning NBA Rookie of the Year Kevin Durant.

In his 66 career games at Texas, he became the 29th player in school history to score 1,000 career points, finished sixth in career assists (410) and three-point percentage (.392), and ninth all time in free-throw percentage (.810). He also finished fourth in assists nationally (6.7 apg) during his freshman year.

Awards

As a sophomore, Augustin earned First Team All-American honors from Sports Illustrated, was a finalist for the Bob Cousy Award (nation's top point guard), and was a unanimous All-Big 12 First Team selection.

As a freshman Augustin was an Associated Press Honorable Mention All-American and a consensus Freshman All-American. He was also selected to the Big-12 All-Rookie Team and All-Big 12 Second Team.

Augustin has declared for the 2008 NBA Draft and has hired an agent, ending his college eligibility. The point guard was a McDonald's All-American in 2006, and also was selected to ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American University Division First Team this year.
