Sixers Dance Team
Hometown: Havertown, Pa
Number of years on the team: 4
How many years of dance experience do you have?
My mom signed me up for lessons when I was 3. I studied dance in college at Kutztown University, where I was a member of the KU Dance Team, eventually becoming a co-captain before finally becoming a member of the Sixers Dancers.
What do you enjoy most about being a Sixers Dancer?
I love being a part of an organization bigger then myself. As a part of the Sixers family, I've gotten a chance to perform for thousands of people, help out in the community, meet new people, enjoy some amazing basketball games and learn to dunk from Hip-Hop!
What do you do when you aren't dancing?
I model and have also started acting. I've done a couple of independent films, and I've been an extra in some major movies that are coming out next year.
What is something fans wouldn't expect to know about you?
I am very crafty. I decorate cakes!
Who inspired you to become a Sixers Dancer?
Two things. First, I was always at my older brother's basketball games, and this really instilled an interest and knowledge of basketball in me. Second, I was always dancing (thanks to my parents), and when I went to college, our university team really looked up to the Sixers Dancers. We modeled our routines after them and we really admired their talent and professionalism. I think that my combined love of dance and basketball ultimately inspired me to try out for the Sixers.
What is one of your favorite Philly hotspots?
I really like the Continental - especially their Wasabi mashed potatoes.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time I like to just hang out with my family and friends. I enjoy reading, going to the movies, spoiling my four nephews and one niece and playing games. I also really enjoy camping.
What is your most memorable experience as a Sixers Dancer?
The nuggets game last year. Allen Iverson was back in the building and there was a feeling in that arena that was different from any other game, it was very intense and emotional. The best part was that in the end the Sixers prevailed and won the game. Amazing!
