76ers Read for Ronald

The 76ers Read for Ronald Program is a service learning project with a literacy theme that raises funds to support the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House. The Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House is a home-away-from-home for families with critically ill children as they go through treatment. The House provides a community of comfort and hope with an atmosphere full of love and understanding. Operating two Houses in Philadelphia, they serve a total of 63 families each night.

During the month of February, elementary and middle school students collect pledges for each minute read to help generate donations. This year 35 schools participated, raising over $95,000 for the families staying at the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House. Penn Wynne Elementary School raised the most donations collecting over $8,400 and there were over 5,000 students participate in the program.

The Sixers want to congratulate all the participants of this year’s Read for Ronald program!
