Sixers' staff member Rory demonstrated the proper way to dribble. Following the display, 12 campers were selected to have a dribbling relay race that really got the crowd involved.

Regardless of whether or not the kids won or even got selected to play, everyone in the group had a good time.

While the Sixers have only visited Briarwood the last two years, it is easy to see that these campers are some of the most spirited on the tour. In fact, the optimism hit a fevered pitch when the Briarwood girls defeated the Sixers Summer Hoops Tour staff team 5-4 in a long game of 6-on-6. The contest featured several key misses inside from the Sixers staff team, not a good scenario considering Briarwood hit all the big ones. In the next game, the Sixers staff team got some revenge, defeating the counselors team in less than two minutes. The Sixers rolled to a 5-1 win for the second straight year in the counselor game.

After the game, all those in attendance were given some free prizes before they raced off to lunch for hot dogs and cherry popsicles. Others talked about the near certainty that the Sixers Summer Hoops Tour will return to Wycombe next summer.

"This is always great because the kids really look forward to it," said Harry Markovitz, a camp supervisor. "We have various special events throughout the summer, but the majority of the kids love this, especially when Hip-Hop comes out. Then they get really excited."

Note: As usual, long-time Sixers fan and local teacher Susan Dyen was in attendance at Briarwood. Her husband Don Dyen used to design the Sixers media guide covers in the late 70's and early 80's. His classic drawings portrayed "Dr. J", Doug Collins and many others.
