Samuel Dalembert goes on a shopping spree at K-B Toy Works in support of Toys for Tots.
On Sunday Dec. 3, 2006 the Philadelphia 76ers community initiative “Drive For Kids” shifted gears to Samuel’s Toy Drive, hosted by Sixers center Samuel Dalembert and Comcast SportsNet’s Michael Barkann, encouraging fans to donate a new, unwrapped toy at the Sixers-Timberwolves game.

As part of Samuel’s Toy Drive, Dalembert, a big kid at heart himself, and Barkann are asking fans to bring a new, unwrapped toy to be donated to the U.S. Marines Toys for Tots program.

The 2006-07 season marks the fourth consecutive season that the Philadelphia 76ers and Comcast SportsNet have teamed up for “Drive for Kids,” a season long initiative that includes a food drive, toy drive, coat drive, book drive and hat drive to benefit children in the Greater Philadelphia Region. Last season’s successful campaign gave thousands of Sixers fans the opportunity to meet players while supporting numerous charitable organizations in the Philadelphia-area.

In addition to Samuel Dalembert's generous donation, fans generated 393 toys that will be responsible for bringing happiness to underprivileged children this holiday season.

During the holiday season, the entire 76ers family including players, coaches, Hip-Hop, front office personnel, and the Sixers Dance Team visit children at area hospitals. The Sixers family and the children decorate stockings and make holiday crafts, making this a great holiday for children who otherwise may not be able to go home.

The 76ers mascot Hip-Hop loves to bring smiles to children’s faces during the holiday seasons. Each year, Hip-Hop hosts Halloween Pumpkin Painting Parties and Easter Egg Decorating Parties at area hospitals. Hip-Hop and the 76ers family members pack up supplies and Sixers treats visit pediatric wards and celebrate the rabbit’s favorite holidays.

Hip Hop surprises everyone at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia during on Dec. 19, 2006.
