“Eric’s Challenge” is an outreach program designed to bring enrichment to Philadelphia-area families by helping them build stronger foundations and focusing on the father-son relationship. This season, “Eric’s Challenge” incorporated his Steal and Assist donation program along with a new initiative, Father-Son One-on-One.

As part of his Steal and Assist donation program, this season, Snow donated $20 per steal and $10 per assist to Sixers Charities. Over the course of the season, Snow tallied 95 steals and 400 assists, giving $5,900 towards “Eric’s Challenge”. For his charitable efforts, he was named the NBA Community Player of the Month in December, giving Snow an additional $5,000 to contribute.

“I take great pride in sharing the importance of family, particularly the father-son relationship, with others,” Snow said. “The relationship I had with my father was essential to me. To be able spend time during the season with other fathers and sons, sharing them the importance of that dynamic, was instrumental to not only the fathers and sons, but with my son EJ. It gave all of us the chance to build upon that special bond in the experiences we had.”

Snow chose the Father’s Day Rally Committee (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Foundation 2000 (Camden, N.J.) as the benefactors of his donations. Each organization will receive $5,540 of the $10,900 contributed by Snow.

"It is a great honor to be selected by Eric Snow", said Bilal Qayyum, President of the Father’s Day Rally Committee. "As a respected star athlete who promotes fatherhood in our communities, Eric has demonstrated just how wonderful an example he is for the young folks and adults of our city.”

Following the 1999-2000 season, Snow donated $8,030, contributing $10 for every assist and steal he earned. At the season’s end, NovaCare Rehabilitation partnered with Snow and graciously matched his efforts, bringing the total of the donation to $16,060.

The second tier of “Eric’s Challenge”, Father-Son One-on-One, incorporated two distinct initiatives--the On the Court program and In the Community. As part on the On the Court program, one area father and son duo were invited to the First Union Center for each home game this season. The special guests had the opportunity to meet Snow before the game and watch the Sixers play with tickets provided by the point guard. All duos were selected through the Sixers web site, www.sixers.com. Fathers were asked to answer three questions relating to their relationships with their sons with winners selected based on the most unique and creative responses.

Through the In the Community program, the Sixers auctioned off unique opportunities to bid on an outing with Eric and his son, E.J. each month. A total of five winning father-son duos joined Eric and E.J. as they visited numerous sites and events throughout the Delaware Valley. Some of the outings took place at the Franklin Institute, New Jersey State Aquarium, NBA Jam Session and The Ringling Bros. & Barnum Bailey Circus. Snow raised $1,896 for Sixers Charities for the online auctions.
