Through the continued success of the Philadelphia 76ers and Comcast SportsNet's "Drive for Kids," the community initiative has touched the lives of many people throughout the Delware Valley.

On Saturday, February 9, the Sixers tipped off the inaugural 76ers Teddy Bear Drive as a part of the Drive For Kids program. Partnered with Comcast SportsNet, the program aims to collect an assortment of items throughout the season to benefit children.

Fans came out with teddy bears in tow, eager to make their donation of a new teddy bear. As they entered the arena, fans dropped off their bears at the nearby drop off location and received a coupon to attend the post game autograph session with Thaddeus Young and Reggie Evans.

Throughout the game, bears of every shape, size, and color piled up including a few kid favorites, Care Bears and Build-A-Bear! By the end of the game, Sixers fans donated a remarkable 553 new teddy bears! The bears will be donated to local pediatric hospital units where they will bring smiles to hundreds of little faces!

In support of the Teddy Bear Drive, the Sixers had a special teddy bear named “Hoops the Bear” take a tour around the city, visiting local news and radio stations to promote the collection drive. During the tour, “Hoops” was signed by the entire 76ers team and some of your favorite media personalities. The autographed bear will be auctioned off on Sixers.com and the proceeds will benefit Sixers charities.

Sixers Guard/Forward, Rodney Carney and two Sixers dancers also visited The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia to personally deliver teddy bears to children. The children made their own teddy bear cutouts and were thrilled to receive the special gifts!

The Sixers organization would like to thank all fans helping to make the Teddy Bear Drive a huge success!

On January 11, the 76ers and Comast SportsNet teamed up again to bring the gift of warmth to area children during the annual Coat Drive for Kids.

Sixers Guard, Lou Williams encouraged fans attending the game to bring a coat and receive an autograph from him during a post-game autograph session.

Fans came out with bags and arms full to make their donations benefiting Operation Warm and at the end of the night over 300 coats were donated!

The Sixers want to thank all the fans that through the warmth of their hearts, brought a smile to the face of a child!

During the Sixers vs Rockets game this past Monday, December 10 the Sixers and Comcast SportsNet held an in-area Toy collection to benefit the U.S. Marines Toys for Tots Program.

The Toys for Tots program seeks to provide shiny new toys for needy children in the community during the Christmas season, providing a message of hope to those youngsters that will motivate them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders.

As the fans entered the arena members of the US Marines were there to greet them as they dropped off their toys at nearby collection points. For each donation fans received a coupon for a Dave and Buster $5 Power Card courtesy of Dave and Busters as well as a voucher to attend a special autograph session with 76ers players, center, Samuel Dalembert and forward, Shavlik Randolph following the game. The players took their time out to say THANK YOU to the fans for their donations of GI Joes, Teddy Bears, and Candy Land among other toys. Through our fans generosity, 359 new toys were donated this year!

All in all, the Sixers, Comcast SportsNet, fans and players helped spread holiday cheer throughtout the arena and the Delaware Valley.

During the Sixers vs Trail Blazers game this past Friday, November 16 the Sixers held an in-arena turkey collection in conjuction with Philabundance as a part of the 76ers Drive For Kids program. Philabundance works to end hunger and malnutrition in the Delaware Valley by rescuing surplus food and distributing it to local organizations serving people in need.

Fans came out with huge hearts and equally large turkeys, big enough to feed 2 families! As they entered the arena fans dropped off their frozen turkey donation at a nearby collection point and received a voucher to attend a special autograph session with select 76ers players.

The autograph session included 76ers guard, Willie Green, forward, Louis Amundson, and forward, Herbert Hill. Each of the players took the time after the game to say THANK YOU to all the fans making a donation to the 76ers Turkey Drive.

The giving did not stop there…Sixers guard, Willie Green went out to a local ACME on Saturday for Philabundance’s annual Turkey Round-Up event to officially make the donation of turkeys collected the previous night along with a handful purchased by the Sixers that morning.

In addition to participating in the 76ers Turkey Drive, Green through the Willie Green Foundation also donated an additional $2,500.00 in gift cards to Concerned Black Men Inc., a Philadelphia grassroots organization that specializes in providing youth mentoring programs, educational scholarships, and assistance for the elderly and families in need of economic support.

All in all, the Sixers, fans and players helped to provide a plentiful meal for hundreds of families across the Delaware Valley.
