Doug Overton is the 76ers Director of Player Development and actively involved in the community. Overton, an 11-year NBA veteran point guard, averaged 4.5 points, 2.1 assists, and 1.3 rebounds in 499 career games. He most recently played for the Los Angeles Clippers during the 2003-04 season, when he averaged 3.9 points, 2.4 assists, and 1.4 rebounds in 55 games.
Originally drafted in the second round (40th overall) by the Detroit Pistons in the 1991 NBA Draft, Overton spent his first three seasons in Washington (1992-95) and also played for Denver (1995-96), Philadelphia (1996-98, 1998-99), Orlando (1998-99), New Jersey (1998-99, 2000-01, 2003-04), Boston (1999-01), the Charlotte Hornets (2000-01), and the LA Clippers (2001-02, 2003-04).
Overton starred locally at Dobbins Tech in high school and went on to play four years at La Salle University (1987-91). During his collegiate career he scored 1,795 career points and currently holds records for assists (671) and steals (277). He led the Explorers to three consecutive NCAA tournament appearances and during his senior season (1990-91), averaged 22.3 points, 4.2 assists, and 4.1 rebounds.
