76ers All-Star Reading Team - Marc Zumoff
What was your favorite children's book growing up and why?
I liked sports books because they helped me to live my fantasy of one day becoming either a sports hero or a broadcaster. Reading sports story's also helped to get me into reading which in turn, let me to read other kinds of books, both fiction and non-fiction.What is your favorite book now and why?
I don't really have a favorite book, though I prefer historical nobels because they can be fun to read while also being educational. Some of my favorite authors include James Michener, Mark Helprin and Tom Wolfe. Right now I'm reading a classic, "Day of the Jackal," by Fredrick Forsythe, a book published in the 60's but still really good...very detailed. What book has had a major impact on your life and why?
The Bible, of course. Actaully, most books have some impact because I'm also a writer and when I read a book each, individual author has an influence on my writing style.Who got you interested in reading?
My mother is a voracious reader, always reading newspapers or having a book in her hand.Is reading an important part of your profession?
Essential. I read several newspapers a day, plus periodicals on the NBA and the 76ers.Why is reading important?
It's the most personal, efficient, fun way to get an education. Why do you love to read?
It lets me drift off into any world I want while at the same time, it allows me to accent the story with my own imagination.
