2002 Summer Hoops Tour

The Philadelphia 76ers Summer Hoops Tour, presented by Poland Springs, concluded its seventh year of clinics throughout the Delaware Valley. Former 76ers All-Star World B. Free hosted the free events that began on June 26 and ended on Aug. 16.

After debuting with 14 locations in 1996, the 76ers Summer Hoops Tour has grown tremendously to include 40 destinations in 2002, reaching out to more than 7,000 children this year. The largest crowds of the summer were seen at Camden, N.J. (300 children) and Atlantic City, N.J. (410 children). The tour made wide-spread stops throughout the Philadelphia region and beyond, from Frackville, Pa. to the New Jersey Shore and North to Allentown, Pa., all the way down to Newark, Del.

“Every summer we attempt to touch the lives of children,” said Free. “This is a great chance for us to give something back to our younger fans that support the Sixers on a nightly-basis throughout the season.”

The Summer Hoops Tour is an annual event that is offered free of charge and is open to children of all ages. All attendees received promotional items and had a chance to interact with Free and the Sixers staff. This year the Tours began on June 26 in Philadelphia and concluded on Aug. 16 in Oxford, Pa.
