Sixers Book Break Program

The Sixers Book Break Challenge is designed to encourage children to take a break from the TV and computer games to pick up a book and read. The reading-based program was created to help boost the literacy rates in students within the Delaware Valley.

Serving as an incentive tool, the 2012-13 book Break Challenge program will be open to students in the 3rd grade and will be available for the first 25 schools to register using Sixers.com.

Students will be challenged to read at least 760 pages or more beginning January 1 – January 31. Using the printable Book Break Challenge tracking card, students will be able to record the number of pages they read each day.

All participating schools will also have the chance to win a Sixers Book Nook! Each school administrator must submit a 250 - word statement to the Sixers saying WHY MY SCHOOL SHOULD RECEIVE A SIXERS BOOK NOOK…

1 lucky school will be selected by the Sixers and KIA Motors to receive a customized reading room/area to be renovated by the Sixers. The room will be unveiled with an official ribbon cutting ceremony and reading event. The room-unveiling event will include an appearance from the Sixers Flight Squad, Dream Team, and Alumni Player, World B. Free during the month of March.


In addition, the 3rd grade students from the winning school will also receive (1) complimentary ticket to a Sixers game. Up to 4 discounted tickets available for friends and family. Tickets are based on availability, while supplies last.

Available game date selection:

  • February 26th vs. Orlando Magic
  • March 18th vs. Portland Trailblazers
  • March 27th vs. Milwaukee Bucks

All participating students completing the Book Break Challenge will receive a Sixers Book Break Challenge certificate!
