Sixers Host Toy Drive at Home Game vs. Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday, December 14 to Benefit Northern Children's Services

PHILADELPHIA, PA. – DECEMBER 12, 2013 – The Philadelphia 76ers today announced details for their annual Toy Drive, which will take place on Saturday, December 14 when they host the Portland Trail Blazers at home at 8:00 p.m. All toys collected will benefit Northern Children’s Services, which serves as a permanent and transitional home for foster children.

Fans who bring one or more new, unwrapped toys will receive an autograph from a Sixers player following the game.

“Northern Children’s Services provides a safe haven year-round, helping children find solid ground in what can be a difficult childhood,” said Sixers CEO Scott O’Neil. “Through SIXERS STRONG, we are proud to support their work with generous donations from our fans and by hosting a holiday party for these deserving kids.”

The toys collected will be wrapped and given to foster children at Northern Children’s Services (5301 Ridge Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19128) on Thursday, December 19 at 4:00 p.m., when Sixers players, staff and members of the Sixers Dream Team, presented by Parx Casino®, and Sixers Flight Squad, presented by Lundy Law, host a holiday party for the kids. The event will include holiday-themed activities, including arts and crafts, cookie decorating and a photo booth.

"Northern Children's Services and the Philadelphia 76ers have enjoyed a wonderful relationship for many, many years,” said Tracey Lavallias, President and CEO of Northern Children’s Services. “We are extremely grateful for the support that they continue to provide our children, and we are very grateful that we have been chosen as the recipient of the 76ers Toy Drive this year."

The Toy Drive is a part of the team’s long-standing Drive 4 Kids program, which is sponsored annually by Comcast SportsNet.
