Rockets Acquire Draft Pick from the Suns

HOUSTON - Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey announced today that the team has acquired Phoenix’s own 2013 second-round draft pick in exchange for forward Marcus Morris.

Morris (6-9, 235, Kansas), who was in his second season with Houston, has averaged 8.6 points and 4.1 rebounds in 54 games (17 starts) this season with the Rockets. He averaged 2.4 points and 0.9 rebounds in 17 games as a rookie with Houston.

An early entry candidate, Morris was selected by the Rockets after his junior season at Kansas with the 14th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft. Morris also averaged 20.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.27 steals in 11 games (nine starts) with Houston’s NBA D-League partner Rio Grande Valley in 2011-12.

He will be reunited with his twin brother, Markieff, who went 13th overall to Phoenix in the 2011 NBA Draft.
