HOUSTON - Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey announced today that the team has signed guard Will Conroy of Houston’s single-affiliation NBA D-League partner the Rio Grande Valley Vipers to a second 10-day contract. This marks Conroy’s fifth-career GATORADE Call-Up to the NBA and his second this season. Conroy takes the roster spot of guard Garrett Temple, who completed his second 10-day contract with the Rockets.
Conroy (6-2, 195, Washington), who has averaged 2.0 points and 1.0 assists in two games with Houston this season, previously signed a 10-day contract with the Rockets on Jan. 28. In 19 games (17 starts) with Rio Grande Valley this season, Conroy has averaged 15.7 points, 10.1 assists, 6.2 rebounds and 1.37 steals.
Acquired by the Vipers from the Albuquerque Thunderbirds for Kurt Looby on Dec. 30, he was re-acquired by Rio Grande Valley on Feb. 9. The 6-foot-2 guard registered what was at the time the second triple-double in Vipers history with 13 points (5-12 FG), 13 rebounds and 15 assists at Fort Wayne (2/9/10). He then picked up another 11 points (5-9 FG), 15 boards and 12 assists vs. Maine (2/20/10).
Conroy recorded his seventh career D-League triple-double and his third triple-double in four games with a season-high 31 points (10-12 FG, 9-11 FT), 14 rebounds and 12 assists vs. Springfield (2/26/10). He also posted 22 points (9-15 FG) and dished out season-high 17 assists vs. Bakersfield (2/28/10). Conroy was named NBA D-League Performer of the Week for games played during the week of Feb. 22, which marked his first time to win the award this season and a D-League record fifth time in his career.
