Rockets Ink Five To Contracts

HOUSTON, September 9, 2003 - The Houston Rockets have signed forward Torraye Braggs, forward Ben Davis, forward Gabe Muoneke, guard Alex Scales and guard Mike Wilks, general manager Carroll Dawson announced today. All players will participate in Rockets training camp, which begins on Monday, Sept. 29 in Galveston, TX.

Braggs (6-8, 250) averaged 13.4 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists at Xavier University from 1996-1998. Last year, Braggs played overseas in Greece and Israel.

Davis (6-9, 245) averaged 1.4 points and 1.3 rebounds in 40 NBA games with the Phoenix Suns and the New York Knicks from 1996-2000. Davis was the Phoenix Suns 43rd pick in the 1996 NBA Draft.

Muoneke (6-7, 235) averaged 11.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists at the University of Texas from 1996-2000. Last season he played in the NBDL.

Scales (6-3, 185) averaged 15.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 62 games at the University of Oregon from 1998-2000. He also played at San Jacinto Junior College, where he averaged 12.3 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists from 1996-1998.

Wilks (5-10, 180) averaged 3.2 points, 1.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 31 NBA games with the Atlanta Hawks and Minnesota Timberwolves last season. A four-year starter at Rice University from 1997-2001, Wilks averaged 12.1 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.7 steals. He completed his career at Rice ranked 11th all-time in scoring (1300), 2nd in steals (184) and 5th in assists (348).
