HOUSTON - Whats in a number? At its core, its worth stems solely from whatever value we choose to assign it.

What, then, of the number 45? For a Rockets franchise about to embark upon its 45th anniversary season, it is a number that is, quite literally, all-encompassing.

It is San Diego, Sampsons shot and Elies kiss of death all rolled into one.

It is 22 in a row, 94-95 and 13 in 35.

It is a hallowed history of Hall of Fame big men spanning from Elvin Hayes to Moses Malone to Hakeem Olajuwon, all the way up to the titanic, 7-6, monolith of a man who will undoubtedly follow their footsteps to Springfield after having made his mark as the player who helped make basketball a truly global game.

It is a number that shows just how far this franchise has come. And at its core beats the heart of a champion.

For those reasons and so many more the Rockets have chosen to ring in the clubs 45th anniversary season with a celebration of the teams rich history and tradition. You can already bear witness to the new look on our website and youll soon see similar branding throughout the city of Houston as well.

Whats in a number? In this case, it represents a storied history, unforgettable moments and a long list of amazing accomplishments. Most importantly of all, it signifies a sparkling past that motivates, drives and emboldens us all to tirelessly work in order to ensure an even brighter future to come.

And milestones such as those are always worth celebrating.
