Head Coach Kevin McHale has been named Western Conference Coach of the Month for February 2014
HOUSTON – Houston Rockets Head Coach Kevin McHale has been named Western Conference Coach of the Month for Feb. 2014. It marks the second time in McHale’s career to be honored with Coach of the Month accolades (Jan. 2009). McHale becomes just the fifth Rockets coach to earn this honor and the first since Rick Adelman in Mar. 2009.
McHale led the Rockets to a Western Conference best 8-2 (.800) record during the month of Feb. 2014. Houston recently recorded a season-best, eight-game winning streak (1/28/14-2/19/14), as well as its longest road run of 2013-14 at four in a row (1/29/14-2/19/14). The Rockets averaged 111.9 points this past month, while holding opponents to 102.2 points per game. The 9.7 scoring differential led the Western Conference and was second in the NBA in Feb. (10.0 by Miami). Houston also owned the best shooting percentage in the West (.491) and ranked seventh in the NBA in field goal defense (.437). The Rockets actually topped the century mark in each of their eight wins.
