Johnson Notches Triple Double in First Summer Win

The Rockets’ summer league squad broke through in a big way Friday, trouncing the Brooklyn Nets 101-75.

Leading the way, as he has since day one of the event, was rookie Nick Johnson who delivered a triple-double on his way to finishing with a sparkling stat line that included 15 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. The University of Arizona product capped off his stellar week with a sensational showing that included a jaw-dropping 360-degree dunk that was part of a 13-0 Rockets’ run in the second quarter. Johnson finished the week averaging 15.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and 5 assists per game over the course of the Orlando event.

Houston not only delivered its most explosive offensive output of the week, but also made life miserable for Brooklyn on the other end of the floor, forcing 28 turnovers from the mistake-prone Nets.

Jermaine Marshall led the Rockets’ attack with 21 points. Croatian center Miro Bilan was excellent as well, providing 14 points, seven rebounds and three steals during 21 tidy minutes of action.

The Rockets will now head to Las Vegas where the second portion of their summer league schedule will begin with a matchup against the Miami Heat Saturday evening.
