HOUSTON - Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey announced today that the team has re-hired Gersson Rosas to co-lead Houston’s Scouting & Player Personnel Department along with Gianluca Pascucci.
Rosas will be entering his 10th season with the Houston Rockets. He will join Pascucci in assisting Morey in domestic and international scouting, as well as the team’s player personnel matters. He returns as Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations, moving into that role after working the prior three seasons (2009-12) as Vice President of Player Personnel.
“It feels good, it’s good to be home,” Rosas said Thursday. “I’m very thankful to (Rockets owner) Leslie Alexander, (General Manager) Daryl Morey and the rest of the organization. This is home and there’s some unfinished work to do and I’m excited to be back to do it.
“There’s a great team that’s been put together on the floor and there’s a great team in the front office … The name of the game is talent and we’ve got to finish what we started, we’ve got to complete the roster and I think this is a year of development and maturation for this team. I think there’s major championship expectations, but it takes time. Anything we can do to assist our coaches and our players and staff, that’s what our focus is going to be. I’m excited to have an opportunity come back and finish that task.”
In 2008-09, Rosas served as Houston’s Director of Player Personnel after working one campaign as the team’s Director of Scouting and three seasons as the team’s Personnel Scout/Video Coordinator. In addition to his duties with the Rockets, Rosas served as the General Manager for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, which is Houston’s single-affiliation NBA Development League partner. In his four seasons as GM, the Vipers captured two D-League championships (2009-10 and 2012-13) and reached the D-League Finals in three of his four campaigns.
Prior to his present stint with the Rockets, Rosas served as General Manager with the Dallas Mavericks.
