RSS NEWS FEED
Hometown: Katy, Tex.
School: University of Houston
Seasons as RPD: First
Rockets.com: Why did you become a Rockets Power Dancer?
Savannah: I became a Rockets Power Dancer because my ultimate passion is to perform! Tryouts did seem to get a bit stressful at times because it was not an easy task. But I overcame it and I love IT!
Rockets.com: How was your first game on opening night?
Savannah: Oh wow! Opening night was my first game to dance this season. Looking up into a sold-out stadium full off people really did get my nerves going! On the first dance, we were wearing chaps that were supposed be ripped off half way through the performance. However, I gave the surprise away when mine fell all the way down at the beginning and wrapped around my ankles making me not able to do some of the dance. Completely embarrassing, but other than that I loved it!
Rockets.com: What's the hard part about being a rookie?
Savannah: I would definitely have to say getting used to the crazy and hectic schedule.
Rockets.com: What has been your favorite moment, so far, as a Rockets Power Dancer?
Savannah: The day I opened my envelope congratulating me that I made the team!
Rockets.com: How close is the team?
Savannah: We actually all get along pretty well. I love all of the girls!
Rockets.com: Are you a dunking dancer?
Savannah: Dunking is a lot of fun! But harder than it looks. As of right now, I’m a dunker in training. Hopefully, I'll be out there later on in the season!
Rockets.com: What is one misconception about being a Rockets Power Dancer?
Savannah: We are NOT Cheerleaders… We are Dancers!
Rockets.com: Besides being a RPD, what do you do?
Savannah: I'm a full-time student in school right now. I don’t really do anything for a living yet, but I want to major in psychology ... so maybe I'll be a psychologist in the future.
Rockets.com: Are people surprised at school that you're a RPD?
Savannah: I actually didn’t really tell many people that I was trying out just to save myself some embarrassment if I didn’t make it. But the people that knew weren’t surprised. They knew how hard I worked and how bad I wanted it.
Rockets.com: What is your typical day like during the season?
Savannah: I have class from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. I volunteer as a cheerleading coach at the Boys and Girls Club for an hour and then I've got practice from 6:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. Then, on select days, I may have to fit in an appearance or it may be a game day!
Rockets.com: What are you looking forward to seeing this season?
Savannah: The Rockets are doing very well this year so I’m looking forward to a lot of wins and getting really far in the playoffs, if not to the NBA Finals.
Rockets.com: What do you do in your free time, if you have any?
Savannah: I live in a dorm with my best friends, so when I’m not busy, I absolutely love just hanging out with friends no matter what we're doing. It's always a ton of fun.
Rockets.com: Do you have a favorite activity?
Savannah: Shopping! Not going to lie. I’m really addicted to name brands so I’m not really the smartest shopper because I sometimes tend to buy what's expensive and cute and not really what's cheap and cute.
Rockets.com: What is your favorite sports team?
Savannah: The ROCKETS!! And I love football even though I don’t have a favorite professional team. I loved my high school football team the best -- GO KATY!
Rockets.com: What is the greatest movie ever?
Savannah: Well, since it’s close to Christmas, I would have to say I LOVE The Grinch with Jim Carrey in it. That movie is so hilarious I could watch it over and over and over. Then, of course, Love and Basketball ... a must-see!
Rocket.com: Do you have an interesting fact about yourself that few people know?
Savannah: That I want to be famous one day! I want to be on a big billboard or on a poster in a window somewhere down Rodeo Dr. modeling.
Rockets.com: If you could have dinner with anyone on the planet, who would it be and why?
Savannah: Channing Tatum from the movie Get Up, of course! This guy is ridiculously hot!!
Rockets.com: Where do you want to travel and why?
Savannah: I want to visit the St. Thomas, St. Barts or Barbados islands because I love the islands, its culture, the beaches and resorts. I think its just so beautiful!!
Rockets.com: What do you expect to be doing 10 years from now?
Savannah: Working in my own therapy office as a psychologist, with a husband and a child or two … or Famous!!
