Alma Mater: Texas A&M University

Rockets.com: Why did you want to become a Rockets Power Dancer?
Megan: I love performing and get the biggest rush from entertaining! I have danced my entire life, but I took a break from it in college. I missed it so much! I knew as soon as I graduated from college I wanted to dance again, and dance professionally! I grew up in Houston watching the Rockets, and I would always watch the Power Dancers at games. I thought they were so amazing and knew right then I wanted to be a part of the best team in the NBA!
Rockets.com: What's the hard part about being a rookie?
Megan: The hardest part about being a rookie would have to be the schedule. We put in a lot of hard work during the week with many hours being contributed to practice, games and appearances. It is so worth it though and I love every minute of it!
Rockets.com: What has been your favorite moment, so far, as a Rockets Power Dancer?
Megan: My favorite moment so far is at the beginning of every game when the players are introduced, and the crowd is getting pumped up! "Welcome to the Jungle" is blaring on the loud speakers and we're all fired up and ready for the game!
Rockets.com: What was been your favorite dance routine through the first two months of the season?
Megan: My favorite dance would definitely have to be our routine to Gretchen Wilson's "Here for the Party"! I love it because it so energized, and gives us a chance to show our Texas roots!
Rockets.com: Besides being a RPD, what do you do for a living?
Megan: I work at Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Microbiology Department. I perform tests on different cultures testing for acid fast bacilli, fungi, and all sorts of bacteria and viruses. I love working in the healthcare field knowing that my career ultimately helps saves lives.
Rockets.com: Are people surprised at the office or school that you're a RPD?
Megan: Yes, they are! I've got my own fan club and my co-workers are always excited to hear all the latest Rockets news!
Rockets.com: Do you ever get recognized in public as an RPD?
Megan: Yes, I got recognized walking into the grocery store the other day, and a young teenager started running up to me. I was kind of shocked at first, but he told me he recognized me from the games and asked for my autograph. (It's still weird to me that people want my autograph!) It's great to know that there are such dedicated Rockets fans out there!
Rockets.com: What is your typical day like during the season?
Megan: A typical day for me involves getting to work at 7 in the morning at the hospital. I leave by 3:30 p.m., and if it's a game day we are on the court for practice by 4 p.m., and then cheer on our Rockets hopefully to a big win that night! In addition, we usually have practice about three times a week from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. plus appearances. So basically, I work, dance, eat and sleep!
Rockets.com: What do you do in your free time, if you have any?
Megan: My friend and I just moved into an apartment, so any of my free time right now goes to decorating the apartment! We're about to start painting all the rooms, so that should be fun! I also like to go to Barnes & Noble with a friend to catch up and pick up a good magazine and coffee! (I can't function with out my Starbucks.) :) And one of the best things I like to do is attend a dance/fitness class at my gym. It relaxes me and helps me get all my stress out!
Rockets.com: Do you have a favorite activity?
Megan: My favorite activity would definitely have to be dancing! I'm a Rockets Power Dancer, of course! I like to blare my music anywhere and everywhere and dance! In the car ... basically everywhere! (I'm one of those people you see on the freeway, just bustin' out to their favorite song in their car!)
Rockets.com: What is your favorite sports team?
Megan: My favorite sports team is...the ROCKETS! Are you kidding? We have the most amazing team with the best players in the NBA! The Rockets have great team unity, and are always on fire for the love of the game!
Rockets.com: What is the greatest movie ever?
Megan: The greatest movie ever...., in my opinion is Hope Floats. It's a sad movie, but it ends up good in the end! I also like Legends of the Fall because it's such a passionate film. It has everything in it: drama, love, war, and the spirit of the wild! Go watch it!
Rockets.com: How about the best restaurant?
Megan: My favorite restaurant is back in Bryan, Texas called Oxford Street. They have an amazing salad buffet with the works! Their steaks are always cooked to perfection, and they have cooked shrimp wrapped in bacon which is what I usually order! So yummy!
Rockets.com: If you could have dinner with anyone on the planet, who would it be and why?
Megan: I'd love to have dinner with my future husband!
Rockets.com: Where do you want to travel and why?
Megan: I would love to visit California. I think it is so beautiful there with all the gorgeous beaches and flowers of every sort and color! Plus California has all four seasons unlike Houston!!
Rockets.com: What do you expect to be doing 10 years from now?
Megan: I want to be settled. I'm hoping to be married, and just beginning to start a family! Anywhere in the U.S. is fine with me because I love to travel!!
