McGrady has surgery on knee, shoulder

Rockets star will likely need three months of recovery time

HOUSTON -- Tracy McGrady underwent arthroscopic surgeries on his left knee and left shoulder on Tuesday.

The Rockets' shooting guard is expected to need three months to recover from the surgeries, but can begin rehabilitation in the coming weeks.

Rockets team physician Tom Clanton said there was no structural damage in McGrady's knee.

The shoulder procedure, which was performed by team physician Hussein Elkousy, was done to repair a slightly torn labrum in the guard's shoulder.

"Tracy originally sustained an impaction injury to the knee as part of a direct collision with another player in December," Clanton said"As a result, he had some recurrent swelling and discomfort in the knee that became increasingly bothersome for him. Tracy's prognosis moving forward is very positive and I don't expect these issues to impact his ability to prepare for the upcoming season."

McGrady played with both injuries over the final few weeks of the re
gular season and playoffs. He missed 12 games in December and January because of knee problems.
