Clutch Facts:
Always up for a good time, Clutch has been known to perform his hilarious hijinks everywhere, from his favorite balcony at the Toyota Center, to his yearly birthday party, to the annual NBA All Star Game. He loves meeting people and never misses an opportunity to entertain. Hanging out next to his very own statue in the Memorial Hermann Sky Court at the Toyota Center and signing copies of his book pre-game are certainly some of his favorite pastimes. In addition to performing live, Clutch also enjoys writing his regular column, Clutch Speaks, which is entering its fourth year as a staple on rockets.com. As of February, 2006, Clutch’s site boasts upwards of 30,000 visitors per month.

With the preseason starting on 10/6 and opening night at home just around the corner, WE ARE RED NATION is taking the city by storm. WE ARE RED NATION is our battle cry this season. GET RED really activated Houston last year and rallied fans behind our team. This year we take it event further by forming a more perfect union. Can you feel the excitement building? I know I can and I can't wait. Halloween will take on a special meaning this year for RED NATION with opening night in Houston taking place at Toyota Center against the Portland Trailblazers tip-off time 7:30 pm unless of course that is we SCARE the Trailblazers back to Portland before we even get the chance to beat them like we did in the playoffs last year.

How am I embracing RED NATION you ask? Well, I’m looking for RED NATION ELEMENTARY! I’m looking for the Houston area elementary school with the most red headed students and when I find it I’m going to give the students there a FREE Building A Future School Show as RED CLUTCH and a Rockets Rally featuring other Rockets entertainers. If you think your elementary school has lots of red heads, have the Principal mail me a photo of himself or herself with all the red headed kids from his/her school with contact information. On the morning of Thursday, September 10th, we at the Rockets were fortunate enough to help the United Way by hosting their city wide kick-off. Over 1,500 United Way campaign leaders from across the city joined Rockets and United Way staff in launching this year’s campaign. The Rockets Power Dancers, Launch Crew and I had the pleasure of entertaining at this event and adding a little of our Rockets brand of excitement and entertainment. After showing up on my motorcycle, I performed my Dance Mess Skit along with my trusty Mascot NOISE Meter to get things started. Thanks to Ward and Ames for organizing a great event. On Saturday, October 3rd I’ll be traveling to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers to entertain and perform during Rockets open practices and make some school show appearances at local elementary schools. All this is leading up to our game verse the Celtics being hosted by the Vipers on Wednesday, October 7th. If you are down in the valley, come see me and our boys get ready for the season and take on the Celtics.

With over 50 Houston area Building A Future school shows already booked for the 09-10 season and over 5 already performed, our school show season has begun. We are well on our way to performing in front of more than 40,000 Houston elementary students this year at over 70 schools. If you’d like to have me perform at your elementary school, have your principal call my trainer, Dominic Davila, at 713-758-7347 to schedule. Remember, just like I say in my show, “EDUCATION IS #1!” By the way, every student attending one of our shows will receive a copy of my brand new story book, CLUTCH’S WORLD TOUR! It is the fifth book in a series of books I have written brought to you by Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital and tells a story about celebrating cultural diversity.

So much to tell! Our video skit are in the can and ready to be edited for your viewing pleasure at home game this season. I had a great time shooting “Rookie Hazing” with Chase Budinger, “No Opposing Team Fan Is Safe Anywhere in Houston”, and “Clutch Finds A Girlfriend” and I can’t wait for you to see them. Chase was such a good sport and great guy. You are going to like him Houston.
