Rockets owner Leslie Alexander announced that proceeds from the 2009 Tux & Tennies Charity Gala will benefit the Bush-Clinton Coastal Recovery Fund. The gala will be held at Toyota Center on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at 6:30pm.
Mr. Alexander is pleased to assist the Bush-Clinton Coastal Recovery Fund with efforts to rebuild communities affected by natural disasters here in Houston and along coastal areas. Funds raised at this year’s Tux & Tennies Charity Gala will provide much needed assistance to tens of thousands of people in our community that were devastated by Hurricane Ike.
Hosted by Mr. Alexander, Yao Ming, Tracy McGrady and every member of the 2009 Houston Rockets,
Tux & Tennies is the premier fundraising event of the Clutch City Foundation. The event is held on the
Rockets court at Toyota Center and guests wear their favorite sneakers, spend time with layers,
and bid on exclusive and rare autographed memorabilia.
Since 1996, the Clutch City Foundation Tux & Tennies Charity Gala has raised nearly $5 million. Proceeds from last year’s Gala benefited the Dikembe Mutombo Foundation. The money raised was utilized to help build the Women & Children’s Center of the Biamba Maria Mutombo Hospital, which is located in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
