Read to Achieve (RTA) Presented by H-E-B
Read to Achieve is a NBA league-wide initiative that promotes the value of reading and online literacy, as
well as encouraging families and adults to read regularly with young children. Locally, the Houston Rockets
and H-E-B host Read to Achieve through a variety of programs designed to be easily implemented into the
classroom and support existing school curriculum. Check out the video and photos from this season's first Read to Achieve event!
SAT Training Camp presented by Comcast
In an effort to better prepare high school students for the SAT exam, the Houston Rockets and Comcast partnered with the Princeton Review to present the SAT Training Camp, a free college preparatory workshop. Speakers included Rockets players Chuck Hayes, Carl Landry , and James White. The players spoke on their overall college experiences and on taking the SAT, as well as take part in a question and answer segment at the conclusion of their talks. The Training Camp will provide a full menu of information to help guide parents and students through the college application process, including admissions, financial aid, SAT prep classes, test dates and much more.
Teacher of the Game Presented by Devon Energy For the fifth consecutive year the Houston Rockets and Devon Energy Corporation are teaming up to recognize exemplary teachers who go above and beyond the call of duty, as well as inspire their students to succeed in life and school. Fifteen (15) teachers will be selected to receive the honor of the Houston Rockets and Devon Energy Teacher of the Game. Each honoree will receive tickets to a Houston Rockets home game, on-court recognition during the game, as well as a $100 gift certificate for classroom supplies, a t-shirt and award commemorating this exciting event! Honorees will also be recognized on Rockets.com.

Administaff produce a
series of character
building audio
messages designed to
encourage students to
think positively,
demonstrate responsibility and treat others respectfully. The season-long program culminates with four
rallies at selected schools.
Houston Rockets & Children’s Memorial
Hermann Encourage Kids to Be Fit
The Be Fit Challenge is implemented in Houston schools and provides children with nutrition and activity
tips. They also participate in fun and educational fitness and nutrition activities to win contest prizes.
Additionally, one school will win an exciting Be Fit Rally, starring Rockets entertainment and Memorial
Hermann fitness and nutrition experts.
Kashmere Feeder System Schools
The Rockets are continuing their support of schools located in the
Houston Independent School District’s Kashmere Feeder System.
As part of the on-going efforts, the team continues its work with
school administrators to develop initiatives that help students
improve their performance on state mandated exams. From hosting
Rockets motivational rallies, inviting the entire student body and
their parents to home games, providing incentives for students to
participate in tutoring classes, and awarding scholarships to
students who passed the test, the Rockets are hands-on in their
support.
