The Houston Rockets invite fans to participate in the Rockets Run 2009 on January 31 at 8:00 a.m. For the second straight year, the Rockets Run will benefit the UnitedHealthcare Children's Foundation. Now in its 7th year, the Rockets Run is a great way for fans to stay in shape while experiencing the thrill of crossing the finish line on the Rockets home court at Toyota Center. Each 5K runner will receive their official timing with the Disposable Tag System (D-Tag).

This year the Rockets will host the inaugural Kids' 1K! Children 12 and under can participate in the abbreviated run course near Toyota Center and then finish at the corner of Polk St and LaBranch St.

Kids can enjoy participating in the Rockets Run with Houston's own, Clutch, the Rockets Bear. We will have special t-shirts and participation prizes in addition to a special Kids Korner area with interactive games at the Post Race Party.

Participants in the Rockets Run can choose to compete in the 5K run, the 2 Mile walk, or Kids 1K. All courses take runners through several blocks of midtown Houston, then turn back toward Toyota Center. The final legs of the 5K and 2 mile walk run underneath the Tundra Garage and the arena, before emerging on the Rockets home court—32 feet below street level. The Kids 1K will finish on the corner of Polk St and LaBranch St.

After crossing the finish line, participants are invited to head to Jackson Street, where a post-race party awaits. The celebration includes trophy presentations for the top finishers, along with free food, drinks, and live entertainment.

The fun does not end after the post-race party, however. Every participant receives one ticket to the Rockets vs. Chicago Bulls game at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 3**. The registration fee includes admission to the race, a race packet complete with T-shirt and other sponsor gifts, plus the post-race party and a Rockets game ticket.

Prizes will be awarded for the top 3 finishers in 13 different age groups. Check here for age groups and results. The top 3 overall male and female runners will receive trophies and be recognized on court during a timeout of the Rockets game that night.

The Rockets Run takes place at Toyota Center on Saturday, January 31. Check-in and disposable tag pick-up begins at 6:30 a.m. Start times for the races are 7:30 a.m. for the Kids 1K, 8:00 a.m. for the 5K and 8:20 a.m. for the 2 Mile walk. Free parking will be available in the Tundra Garage, located just next to Toyota Center.

Online and faxing registration is now over. You can register the day of the event starting at 6:00 AM in front of the Toyota Center Box Office on Saturday, January 31st.

See you at Rockets Run!
