Hiring Our Heroes
Hiring Our Heroes launched in March 2011 as a nationwide initiative to help veterans and military spouses find meaningful employment. Working with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s vast network of state and local chambers and other strategic partners from the public, private, and non-profit sectors, the goal is to create a movement across America in hundreds of communities where veterans and military families return every day. To date, Hiring Our Heroes has hosted more than 640 hiring fairs in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia and more than 20,200 veterans and military spouses have obtained jobs.
In 2012, Toyota partnered with Hiring Our Heroes and Medal of Honor recipient, Sgt. Dakota Meyer, to launch the Personal Branding Initiative which aims to address the issue of veteran unemployment by helping veterans learn how to better market themselves to civilian employers. Through the development of tools and resources that help assist veterans with skills translation and provide one-on-one career guidance and support, Toyota continues to demonstrate its ongoing commitment to the military and veteran community.
