MASCOT TRAINING Is your organization’s mascot reaching its potential? Are your mascot performers new to the experience of being in costume and at a loss for what to do at times? Or, if you have an experienced performer, could he or she use a refresher course and some new material to perform? Or, do you yourself want to learn the trade, so you can help your performers from year to year? If you answered yes to any of these questions, I can help! For the past 15 years, I have been a mascot representing 8 different schools and organizations. My credentials as a mascot include: Houston Rockets (NBA) Clutch the Bear 1995 – Present Houston Comets (WNBA) Haley 1997 – 2008 Houston Thunderbears (AFL) Thunder 1997 - 2001 Texas Terror (AFL) Big Frank 1996 – 1997 University of Delaware (college) YoUDee 1993 – 1995 Wilmington Blue Rocks (minors) Rocky 1994 99.1 WJBR (radio station) J-Bear 1994 Wissahickon High School The Trojan 1991
Having performed as a novice in high school, a professional in the NBA, and everywhere in between, I have learned what it takes to be successful at every level as a mascot. I started teaching the trade in 1995, when I taught for the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) for two summers. Since leaving that company to work for the Rockets and Comets, I have personally coached over 200 mascots at my own camps and individual consulting sessions. These performers have ranged in experience from kids in high school who have never donned a costume before to professional mascots working in the NBA, MLB, NHL, and NFL. Regardless of your situation, I can help improve your mascot program with personalized instruction on all of the following topics: -A mascot’s purpose and mission statement -The ground rules for being a mascot -Character development and impromptu antics -How to perform 10 original skits which I have written -How to develop your own skits and sketches -Props—ones you can make yourself and contacts for ones you can buy -Costume maintenance, cleaning, and places to purchase at all price ranges -Safety and physical demands placed upon performers -Review of professional mascot highlights tapes with idea brainstorming
All topics are covered in a day-long session. For more information concerning pricing and availability or to schedule a consultation or coaching session, please contact me at (713) 758-7279. Thank you, in advance, for your time and consideration. I hope to see you soon! COACHING / CONSULTING REFERENCES |
