Two of my favorite days have passed since we have last talked or should I say, since I have last written you. Opening Night and Halloween have to be the two most fun nights of the year. The first regular season Rockets game is always a thing of anticipation and excitement. It was the first of 41 action-packed home games where thousands of screaming Rockets fans will be cheering on our boys to many victories. And shoot, Halloween is the one day of the year that everyone tries to dress up and be like my favortie person, ME! The only difference is that your costumes don't make you lose 10 pounds in sweat by wearing them. They also probably don't weigh 30 pounds either. Oh poor me. Oh woe is me. If you feel bad for me, then gotcha sucka.
I have the greatest job in the world. Who cares if I smell like a wet dog most of the time and I get mistaken for a rat. I had a kid call me Chucky last week. I know what your thinking, Chucky is a mouse not a rat. I get both all the time. Bottom line, it beats working for a living. E-mail me and let me know what you dressed up as for Halloween. Whoever I think had the best costume will get a free Clutch balloonie sent to them in the mail. For my not so sharp fans (which if you think I'm funny and take the time to read what I write, that means all of you), that means send me your address if you want to be considered for the balloonie.
I've heard some people in the community saying that they are not as impressed with Yao Ming's performance as they thought they would be. For all those people I say, learn the following virtue in typical Clutch Chant form: give me a "P" - give me an "A" - give me a "T" - give me an "I" - give me an "E" - give me a "N" - give me a "C" - give me an "E." What's that spell? You got it! Rome was not built in a day and neither was the great wall of China to mix a cliche with another location.
Yao just got here and has an insurmountable amount of information to process, not the least of which is the language, culture, area, and oh yea, a complete different style of basketball. Just remember that the great player who just had his jersey retired Saturday night did not reach his potential for a while as well. With that said, did you see some of those moves. I'm glad I'm just a mascot and I don't have to bang up against that like the rest of the players in the league. A note to the other teams' players in the NBA, watch out chumps, because the Yao train just got moving!
If you have the time come see me at the TSU health fair this Saturday between noon and 2 p.m. or stop by one of our many games. Rocky hang in there. Later.
P.S. Be Part of Something BIG!
