Rockets Sign Jameel Watkins

HOUSTON (October 2, 2003) - The Houston Rockets have signed forward/center Jameel Watkins, general manager Carroll Dawson announced today.

In 2002-2003, Watkins averaged 8.4 points (on .521 shooting) with 6.4 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 50 games with the Fayetteville Patriots of the National Development Basketball League. The 6-11, 255 pound forward/center was among the NBDL Leaders, ranking seventh in blocks, eighth in rebounds and 11th in field goal percentage.

Watkins played collegiately at Georgetown, averaging 4.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 123 career games.
