The Bucks focused almost all their offseason attention up front this summer, via trades (Samuel Dalembert), draft (John Henson) and free agency (Ersan Ilyasova, Joel Przybilla).

Second-rounder Doron Lamb, a shooting guard from Kentucky, was considered a steal by some at No. 42. Milwaukee still wants another backup behind Brandon Jennings, Monta Ellis and Beno Udrih.

Defense
Trading, or just enduring the injury layoffs of, Andrew Bogut had the Bucks hungry for interior defense. Their summer haul up front helps, along with holdovers Ekpe Udoh, Larry Sanders and Luc Mbah a Moute.

B

Bench
Second-year forward Tobias Harris was a summer league All-Star pick and, with Carlos Delfino gone, hopes to crack the starting lineup. Also gone: Shaun Livingston, Jon Leuer and Jon Brockman.

Coaching
This is a wait-and-see season, with both head coach Scott Skiles and general manager John Hammond in the final year of their contracts. Owner Herb Kohl's plans, post-U.S. Senate, are in flux too.

Summary

Milwaukee has had trouble getting traction lately, failing to deliver on the promise of its strong finish in 2009-10. Andrew Bogut's injuries prompted them to trade the Aussie center, locking in the challenge of playing without him. And they missed him in 2011-12, slipping from third defensively to 17th.

Maybe the Bucks overcompensated this summer, stocking up on bigs. The offense didn't get nearly as much attention, but then, Milwaukee will be counting on better synchronicity from Jennings and Ellis over a full season, Ilyasova settling in for the long haul and possibly a step up by Harris. This season has a playoffs-or-bust feel for Skiles and Hammonds.
