Raptors Weekly Roundup: Ice Buckets, Onesies and... Jodeci?

Holly MacKenzie - Raptors.com

Keeping up with everything that’s happening on social media can be difficult. We know. Even for those of us with multiple TweetDeck columns and near-hourly Instagram checks. In an effort to highlight some of the best posts around the Internet from the week that was, we’re recapping the best Raptors-related social media for you each Friday.

From Patrick Patterson dancing in the streets to Amir Johnson (and Dikembe Mutombo) dancing with basketball fans in Africa while working with Basketball Without Borders, to DeMar DeRozan continuing to audition for USA Basketball, it's been a busy week for the Raps.

Instagram: DeMar DeRozan hanging with Team USA teammates James Harden and former Raptor Rudy Gay in Chicago as USAB held practices prior to two exhibition games this weekend. Read more from DeRozan’s USAB teammates (including childhood friend Harden) talking about his development into an NBA All-Star.

We might be in the dog days of the NBA offseason, but Terrence Ross is already locked in and ready for the regular season to get here. Posting photos from this past season for motivation regularly, Ross Instagrammed this shot of the crew in a huddle pre-game on Wednesday.

Kyle Lowry showed his game face has been with him long before he ever inked his first NBA contract. Also: Peep the hashtag game.

Patrick Patterson showed the dangers of listening to Jodeci while driving. Gotta commend his commitment though.

Newlyweds Landry and Elaine Fields showed off one of their favourite, more unique wedding gifts

Amir Johnson and Dikembe Mutombo dance with SOS Children's Village in Johannesburg during their time with Basketball Without Borders Africa. To track more of their trip, check out the #BWBAfrica hashtag on Twitter and Instagram.

DeRozan and his USA Basketball teammates participated in the ALS Bucket challenge after a practice session in Chicago. Although he seemed to get the least of it, DeRozan displayed impressive reaction time, going from 0-100 real quick as soon as the water hit.

Twitter:

Raptors fan @alexdjuric got a pleasant surprise while hanging out at Disneyland when he ran into DeRozan. Best parts: Djuric wearing his DeMar DeRozan jersey when the meeting happened and DeRozan once again repping Toronto with his black Blue Jays hat.

Rookie Bruno Caboclo tweeted about his return to Toronto on Thursday night. Caboclo will be back in the city to participate in Nike’s Americas Team Camp at Ryerson University. The camp will feature the best youth basketball players from Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Dominican Republic, Mexico and Puerto Rico.

A happy Caboclo was spotted by Raptors fan @adylee on his way to Toronto in the Las Vegas airport.

Raptors general manager Masai Ujiri and head coach Dwane Casey joined Amir Johnson in Africa working with Basketball Without Borders this past week. Casey’s Team Raptors defeated Team Houston in the #BWBAfrica championship game.

The @NBA account gives an up-close look at the kicks DeRozan is wearing as he continues his quest to make the USA Basketball roster.
