The Toronto Raptors announced Wednesday that Head Coach Dwane Casey and his team will return to Vancouver, British Columbia for a portion of training camp. The club will open camp at Air Canada Centre in Toronto (September 29 – October 2) before departing for the West coast. The team also conducted their 2010 training camp in Vancouver.

“We look forward to returning to Vancouver and taking advantage of the great facilities at Fortius Sports & Health,” said Casey. “As Canada’s team we feel this trip will build on momentum gained from last season’s playoff appearance and the launch of our We The North campaign.”

“We are excited to be hosting the Toronto Raptors at our world-class facility for a training camp this fall,” Craig Thompson, President & CEO of Fortius Sport & Health. “Being able to offer a one stop shop for high performance training camps is something we pride ourselves on. Teams can stay here, train here, rehab here and much more.”

The Raptors will hold practices Friday, October 3 and Saturday, October 4 at Fortius Sport & Health. All practice sessions will be closed to the public. A specific schedule with times and media availability will be released at a later date.

It will be the seventh time the team has held a portion of camp outside the province of Ontario. In addition to Vancouver, the Raptors trained in Halifax in 2011 and 2012, Treviso and Rome, Italy and Madrid, Spain as part of NBA Europe Live in 2007, and Buffalo, New York in 2000 and 2001.

As previously announced, the Raptors will open preseason play in Vancouver as part of the NBA Canada Series. Toronto will face the Sacramento Kings at Rogers Arena on Sunday, October 5 (4 p.m. PDT / 7 p.m. EDT). Tickets are available at ticketmaster.ca or call 1 (855) 985-5000.

This will be the Raptors’ second preseason game in Vancouver. They downed the host Phoenix Suns, 129-78, on October 6, 2010 with 18,123 in attendance.
