Chuck Blogs the First Round..
June 28, 7:44 p.m.

Welcome to raptors.com --we'll add some insight-commentary and have some fun.

Stay with us.

ESPN is all over the draft. They've got locked in with Mike Conley Jr. to Memphis?

Atlanta...don't get me started.

Ray Allen a Boston Celtic?

You have got to love it!

Greg Oden is being interviewed and is poised, has a good sense of humor and mature beyond his years.

So the Sonics apparently get two picks in the top five. GM Sam Presti is rebuilding quickly in the Emerald City.

I'm just like you. Hanging out watching the draft with my two sons T.C. and Mark.

T.C. is in love with Julian Wright

Mark is a huge Jeff Green

Look for three Florida players to go top 10---unheard of!

David Stern just gave props to NBA.com-hey-nothing like the Internet.

Portland on the clock..let me think about that one!

Greg Oden....Only 20 -looks 40---and is the new face of the Portland Trailblazers.

June 28, 7:48 p.m.

Seattle is on the clock.

Kevin Durant has a chance (in time) to be the man...I mean THE man in Seattle sports. The question is will he be playing in Seattle, Oklahoma City, Kansas City in two years.

I can't wait for the Hawks....

I'm digging Oden's threads ..on a scale of 1-10 -- I give him an 8.

ESPN is reporting the Ray-Ray deal to Boston is done...so PP has some help....Jeff Green apparently will be a Sonic....

Sam Presti wants some defense.....Green gets after it....

Let's get the Durant interview over with it..bring on the Hawks!

Parents--hide the kids!

For our CCI readers how do you think it's going to play out in Boston with Pierce and Allen?

June 28, 7:57 p.m.

The Hawks take Al Horford -- Dickie V. called it on the Fan 590 on my show yesterday -- can't go wrong with Horford. This guy is a stud. So much for Amare.

Memphis on the clock......is it Conley?

The Grizz take a point guard...too high? Some say yes? But Memphis needed some leadership and a guy to give the rock to Gasol and Miller and Gay

Conley Jr.'s father was a major stud in his own right -- I remember interviewing him when he was competiting in Chicago and went to Indiana U. in track and field.

June 28, 8:03 p.m.

Jeff Green has the tools to be a very good player -- he'll join Durant in Seattle.....very good trade for the Sonics. Two studs.

To play at Georgetown you better play defense.

For Boston -- Ray Allen can fill it up!

Now we're talking about Milwaukee...lots of options....Noah, Brewer the Yi Jianlian.....man this is good......

June 28, 8:09 p.m.

The Bucks on the clock and the Commish at the podium...

Yi Jianlian.....welcome to the Midwest and I hope you like brats!

Jianlian wasn't that supportive of going to the Bucks before the draft. He refused to workout for them but the Bucks held their ground.

He plays away from the hoop. Gutsy move by GM Larry Harris

June 28, 8:13 p.m.

It's now official......Larry Harris has big time onions. Get Jim Todd on the phone to explain this one!

Minnesota on the clock....is it Spencer Hawes or Corey Brewer?

June 28, 8:15 p.m.

Book it...it's Brewer.....got to give props to Minnesota Star Tribune columnist Sid Hartman...he was all over the Brewer connection in today's paper. He's tight with owner Glen Taylor so there you go.

He's a poor man's Scottie Pippen.

June 28, 8:22 p.m.

The Bobcats...do they go for another Carolina kid?

Michael Jordan will make the call? Noah, Hawes, Thornton?

Charlotte needs to get their act together....

The Bobcats get another Tar Heel...Brandon Wright......all they have to do is change their color scheme....Carolina blue

Comparisons to CB4 from Jay Bilas...wow-that's impressive.

June 28, 8:29 p.m.

One other note about Seattle-Boston -- I love Delonte West. Underrated player.

Chicago is ready to win the East --- they need to go big. Whomever they take may not get a lot of burn so where do they go.

Hawes? Noah?

Speaking of threads...Mark Jackson is looking sharp......his clothier? None other than Ross from Toronto....that's right the same Ross who takes care of Coach Sam.

Bulls take Joakim Noah.....I like this pick..high energy guy--his motor is always running. Getting e-mails from CCI readers--ok, I know-I know--Noah's mom is hot.

June 28, 8:37 p.m.

John Paxson just interviewed on ESPN..he still looks like he can play

Stephen A. Smith needs decaf.

Paxson for three --yes! Marv Albert --The Chicago Bulls have won another NBA title

The Hawks take Acie Law -- a combo guard. The Hawks told him they'd take him and they kept their word....is he a starter in the league? Not sure.

June 28, 8:42 p.m.

The Kings go for Spencer Hawes.....his father Jeff was a star at Washington along with his Uncle Steve. This kid has a nice offensive game. Needs to work on rebounding. Good pick by Sac.

June 28, 8:52 p.m.

So much for the Calderon-Childress trade. Looks like the Raps may stay the course--out of the draft--but you never know.

Portland has four second rounders....Philly is up next.....the first of three picks. Talk about a GM under the gun...Billy King needs to come through.

I love the NBA draft compared to the NFL's--this baby is humming along.....

Philly with new uniforms. A combo of the old "Phila" with a a lot of red.

ESPN is reporting 76ers wanted to trade up with Milwaukee

By the way on the Mitch Albon Show on WJR in Detroit Stern says he plans on fining players who speak out publicly and demand trades.....ie Kobe. It just doesn't look good for the league. Detrimental is the right word, I believe.

Philly goes big-----they select Thaddeus Young out of Ga. Tech--he can shoot---not sure about this one for Philly. The Hornets really liked this guy.....the guy is off the charts athletically. I'm surprised.

June 28, 8:58 p.m.

Just thinking...I wonder what Marvin Williams is thinking.....

Julian Wright goes to the Hornets. I like this guy. He has a terrific upside. New Orleans spent a ton of money last summer on free agents but this kid is solid but he really needs to work on his shot. If he runs with Chris Paul...it's all good.

June 28, 9:02 p.m.

The Clippers are next -- They need help at the point. I wonder if they called the Raps regarding Jose?

The Clippers take Al Thonton...love this guy's heart. He battles and gets after it. However he's just over 6-5.

I liked him at Fla. State. He chewed up a lot of guys in one on one workouts. He loves to compete and plays hard

June 28, 9:10 p.m.

The Pistons need some help -- athleticism...youth....they take Rodney Stuckey out of Eastern Washington. Don't let the school fool you. This kid is a playaaaaaaaar! He was born to be a Piston.

Great move. Tremendous pick by Joe Dumars.

June 28, 9:22 p.m.

My son T.C. called it -- Nick Young out of USC goes to DC. This will help the backcourt depth of Washington. I think Washington wanted to go big but really who's left ..take a sure thing. He can light it up. Now Washington needs to move Haywood/Thomas.

If I'm the Nets and I've done my homework on Sean Williams I take this guy. He could be a clone of Amare Stoudamire type player.

Zach Randolph going to NY -- Channing Frye to Portland. I like this move for NY -- but one question if Zach has issues in Portland...can he handle NY?

WOW---WOW--WOW--Eddy Curry and Randolph--wow.

Dickau-Fred Jones....whatever.

Steve Francis has a termination option at the end of the 07-08 season.....Randolph is big.

I love this pick for the Nets--again depending on Sean Williams ...if he stays out of trouble...the Nets just helped themselves.

June 28, 9:26 p.m.

The Atlantic just got a lot tougher....

Zach Randolph-Knicks

Sean Williams-Nets

Ray Allen-Boston

Impressive.....wow----can't wait--bring it on

I keep waiting for the Garnett trade--maybe I should keep waiting-waiting and waiting.

GST takes Marco Belinelli-----guard from Italy. This is a terrific fit for the Warriors. He can score.....

June 28, 9:32 p.m.

ESPN update Jim Gray with a Lakers update --- he's locked in to Kobe.....apparently Jerry Buss is getting very involved...that could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on your view.

The Lakers are up next...they wanted to deal this pick....now what do they do with it?

The Lakers selected Javaris Crittenton....a nice player but the circus has yet to start. Kobe, Kobe, Kobe.

June 28, 9:38 p.m.

My son T.C. is on fire -- Jason Smith who impressed a ton of scouts goes to Miami. He went everywhere working out with tons of NBA teams. This kid has a chance on a Miami team growing old right in front of us.

June 28, 9:46 p.m.

Daequan Cook goes from Philly to Miami...Jason Smith to Philly.

Cook is a shooting guard and let's evaluate this pick in two years. Outstanding one on one player.

June 28, 9:55 p.m.

The Bobcats are up next....#22 (Raps pick-Lamond Murray)

By the way congrats to Frank Thomas but what's up with A.J. Burnett?

Back to hoops

Jared Dudley out of Boston College --at 22---it's a bonus...safe pick.

ESPN interviewing Spike Lee like he's a front office employee---season ticket holder? Yes. VP of Basketball Operations? No.

Knicks already have Randolph...will they go for DePaul's Wilson Chandler..

envelope please.....

NY selects Wilson Chandler--diamond in the rough.

Give props to the Knicks ---they've had a good night.

June 28, 10:03 p.m.

Portland bought the Suns pick...the price tag could reach as high as 3 million for the pick.

The Blazers will get guard Rudy Fernandez....the Blazers have added Oden, Frye and now Fernandez.. Impressive on top of a splendid class a year ago. Look out! Wow.

June 28, 10:09 p.m.

The Jazz go for Morris Almond. He worked out for the Jazz last week and they loved him and he loved Utah. Had an outstanding season at Rice and goes to the rack.

Aaron Brooks, a Seattle kid who played at Oregon can flat out fly -- I mean fly -- Is Rafer on the block?

June 28, 10:28 p.m.

The Pistons on the clock.....Aaron Afflaloa.....big, tough kid.

Another solid Piston pick. He plays strong D. The Pistons don't need him to score.....hey at 27 good choice.

The Spurs take Tiago Splitter out of Brazil who's stock plummeted the past two years . Splitter will stay in Spain one more year but when he comes over he will play. The Spurs have done their homework.

June 28, 10:42 p.m.

Alando Tucker to the Suns. Outstanding Big 10 Player -- undersized to play the 3 -- not sure if he is a 2. Steve Kerr's first pick as GM.

The 76ers wrap up the first round with a Euro player......

Winners: Portland, Seattle and the Knicks...I also like what Detroit did.

I'll hang around to see if the Raps will do anyrthing.....if not I'll hook up for a quick word for CCI Friday then off for a few days. Hope you enjoyed the running blog. It was fun!

Always a pleasure.
