The Toronto Raptors players, coaches and management teamed up for a great cause Wednesday at their annual Red Party presented by Rogers. In its 15th year, this sold-out, fan-favourite charity event is the flagship fundraiser for the MLSE Team Up Foundation. The evening gave basketball fans the unique opportunity to meet and mingle with the Raptors team and management, as well as Raptors radio and television broadcast personalities.

“The Raptors Red Party is a celebration of the important work of the MLSE Team Up Foundation, as well as an opportunity for our players, coaches and team management to personally thank our fans, partners and donors for their support,” said Tom Anselmi, executive vice-president and chief operating officer of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment. “The Raptors Red Party highlights the team’s role as leaders in our community and how their work and combined with donor support changes lives through the power and spirit of sport.”

The more than 800 party attendees had a chance to bid on hundreds of silent auction items. Items included a collection of 30 exclusive men’s and women’s Movado ESQ watches especially created to recognize the Raptors 15th anniversary, two tickets to the 2011 NBA All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles, Raptors Reggie Evans’ blue linen bench jacket and two tickets to Taylor Swift’s sold out concert at Air Canada Centre.

“The generosity of our donors combined with charitable events such as the Raptors Red Party enables the MLSE Team Up Foundation to continue to make a significant difference in our communities by improving the lives of youth through building recreational facilities and giving grants to worthy charitable initiatives,” said Aris Kaplanis, vice-chair of the MLSE Team Up Foundation.

Rogers Communications serves as the Raptors Red Party’s presenting sponsor. Associate sponsors include: Miller Genuine Draft, MUZIK, Athlete’s Care, the Fairlane Group and The Score.

Rogers is committed to providing customers with access to the things that matter most to them. As presenting sponsor of the Red Party, Rogers will help provide high needs youth in Ontario with access to athletic programs that allow them to participate in physical activities leading to healthy life choices and a positive influence on their lives. In these ways, we are committed to supporting the Team Up Foundation in its goal of making a difference in the lives of youth in Ontario,” said Susan Gordon, vice president, marketing services, Rogers Communications Inc.

In the last six months, the MLSE Team Up Foundation has invested close to $500,000 in legacy projects including the refurbishment of two Toronto-area rinks (the Oriole Community Centre and Ramsden Rinks) and two basketball courts (Oriole Community Centre and O’Connor Court Refurbishment).
